XC-72 'Black Multi'

The New Balance XC-72 ‘Black Multi’ applies a bold palette to a lifestyle runner inspired by the 1970s — specifically, the retro designs of the era’s concept cars and running shoes. The latter is seen in the vertically split rubber outsole that pairs traction patterns from the XC15 and 375, as well as the gum rubber heel clip that channels the modified herringbone pattern of the 620. The build on the upper comprises a black suede base with contrasting suede overlays in purple, dark teal and grey. An oversized ‘N’ logo is built with tumbled grey leather, while mesh inserts at the heel and toe box are rendered in pale blue and vivid orange.
