The Bolognese designer strips away the postcard image of Italy to reveal a melancholic underbelly for FW25.

Picture Italy in the summertime and your imagination likely floods with travel brochure imagery: evening aperitivo on a rustic trattoria draped in vines; Mediterranean markets of fresh produce, flowers and seafood; cobblestone streets under the glow of soft lights with a gelato in hand. Luca Magliano is here to obliterate that reverie.

For Fall/Winter 2025, the Bolognese designer shunned the exotic, presenting a foreboding, techno-soaked perspective on his homeland—one that broods during winter when the tourists have long gone and waves crash against barren shores. Down on the Adriatic coastline, Magliano’s terra firma, life takes on a more pointed edge. “Sea, night, winter: a legendary threesome,” read the show notes.
