Recreating the original runner from 1987 for a May 2018 release date, the Wmns Air Max 1 'String' hit shelves with sandy neutral colors executed in breathable mesh, synthetic leather and suede. After visiting the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Nike designer—and former architect—Tinker Hatfield used the building's 'inside-out' construction to create a visible Air Sole unit under the heel. Dozens of models and thousands of colorways later, the Air Max collection is still expanding.
