First released in 2014, the re-release of the classic 997 gave the original a refreshed look. The New Balance 997 'Black Red' sneaker revives design elements from the Steven Smith-created 1990s classic including an elevated heel pad and a polyurethane shell that harbors dual-density ENCAP cushioning, replacing the standard foam that was traditionally used. The mesh and suede upper aided by its rubber outsole is covered in a retro-inspired colorway.
