In September 2011, adidas Originals celebrated the 10th anniversary of its flagship store in Berlin-Mitte. To commemorate the occasion, the Three-Stripes brand created the special-edition ZX 9000 'Berlin' sneaker, inspired by the architectural design of the historical city. The grey suede upper was developed in adidas' Germany factory with a bleaching and pre-washing effect to give the shoe a vintage finish, a nod to the aesthetic of the old world city.
