Tom Sachs and Nike teamed up to form NIKEcraft, which developed products for athletes, not consumers. A small capsule collection was released in 2012, including jackets, bags and the Mars Yard shoe. All of this was part of Sachs SPACE PROGRAM 2.0: MARS art installation, which featured a Mars Rover and a solar-powered boombox. The shoe featured Maple suede and Natural Vectran uppers, with a bright Sport Red Swoosh and heel/tongue pull tabs. The outsole was a modified Free sole that featured a thicker foam density and enhanced traction.
