The Missing Link x Air Max 1 'Susan' was released in April 2019 to celebrate the premiere of Missing Link, a feature film from famed stop-motion studio, Laika. This rendition on was designed by Tinker Hatfield and animator Michael Berger, who chose striped, plaid and woolen textiles inspired by the main character's Pacific Northwest style. The Nike Air Max 1's classic foam midsole is wrapped in leather, still keeping the Max Air unit's visibility intact. This shoe is sold with the special 'You Can Call Them Susan' box, which is printed with patterns to match the release.
