Comme des Garçons

French for “like the boys,” Rei Kawakubo founded Comme des Garçons in Tokyo in 1969. Today, Comme des Garçons is located at the center of Japan’s avant-garde fashion universe and is known for helping a number of influential designers discover their voice under Kawakubo’s mentorship, including Junya Watanabe, Chitose Abe, Fumito Ganryu, Tao Kurihara, Junichi Abe and Kei Ninomiya.
