The Tokyo Design Studio x New Balance 574 ‘Nimbus Cloud Classic Burgundy’ reworks the retro runner with a minimalist build and updated tooling. Housed within New Balance’s T-House concept store in Japan, the TDS team dresses the sneaker in a white mesh upper inspired by an archival model from the ‘60s dubbed the Trackster. The traditional ‘N’ logo is removed, but the leather saddle, suede overlays and external heel counter remain intact. New Balance branding is printed on a burgundy leather heel tab, delivering the shoe’s lone pop of color. Underfoot, a Vibram ripple outsole offers maximum grip.
