Detroit streetwear retailer Burn Rubber partnered with New Balance for this premium rendition of their classic 577 silhouette to honor one of Detroit’s most famous sons. The Burn Rubber x 577 'Joe Louis’ pairs a black, brown and white leather upper inspired by vintage boxing gloves, with a gum outsole underfoot. The shoe also comes with a special violin-case packaging inspired by Louis’s childhood. The story goes that in order to appease his mother, who wanted him to become a violinist, Louis would carry his boxing gloves around in a violin case.
