Released in August of 2019, the Air Max Plus 'Sunburst' is one of four shoes Nike modified in honor of the discontinued pinwheel logo. Back in 1972, after paying design student Carolyn Davidson $35 for the Swoosh, Nike needed to create a symmetrical logo to put on its apparel. Its designers came up with a multi-Swoosh pinwheel called the 'Sunburst.' This remake of the original Air Max Plus is offered in crimson mesh with black trim, while colorful embroidery pays homage to the 70s symbol.
