In 2003, Nike started a program at the OHSU Doernbecher Foundation in Portland, Oregon that would allow children admitted to the hospital to design their very own Nike shoes. The Air Max 95 DB BG 'Doernbecher' is part of this initiative. The sneaker features a white mesh-based upper with matching leather accents and red patent details on the mudguard and a red leather toe box for structure. The low top also boasts an Air unit in the heel for responsive cushioning, blue wires to lock-down the lacing system, and gold lettering that reads “Be Brave" on the side panel.
