In 1979, Frank Rudy, an aerospace technology specialist for NASA, introduced the first ever encapsulated air unit, eventually birthing the original Nike Air Tailwind. To date, the Air unit has been subject to multiple modifications and enhancements by legendary designers. The Air Max Tailwind 4 ‘Red Orbit’ is a new colorway of a classic Air Max silhouette, boasting visible air units and standard ribbing while incorporating a red to white gradient on a Wolf Grey leather and mesh upper.
