According to its designer, Sean McDowell, the look of the Nike Air Max Plus was inspired by the sunset on a Florida beach where he once vacationed. The sneaker was first released in 1998, and the more recent Nike Air Max Plus 'Dusty Cactus' still maintains a sunset-evoking, blue-grey-white gradient on its recognizable TPU cage and midsole plug. Below, a Tuned Air system provides cushioning geared toward each specific part of the foot.
