Nike designer Sergio Lozano was inspired by the striations of the Grand Canyon when he created the Air Max 98, and the striated panels of the upper reflect his vision. In a black colorway, this version of the original maintains the multiple layers of its predecessor—the Air Max 97—in nocturnal style. More overlays are added to the upper lace eyelet, and the middle layer includes integrated molded ribs for more structure and durability.
