This Air Max 90 SI was released in early 2008 in anticipation of the Olympic Games held in Beijing. The 'Midnight Navy' and 'Varsity Red' colorway is peppered with gold-medal-inspired trim detail, a nod to the 1984 Chinese squad that won 15 gold medals in the Los Angeles Olympics. Tags on the front and back tongue pay further tribute to the China national team, in particular the first-ever gold medal they won, courtesy of athlete Xu Haifeng in the slow-fire free pistol.
