For Spring/Summer 2023, designers from JW Anderson and Vetements to Bottega Veneta and Givenchy all agreed that the slacker has emerged as one of this season’s biggest style icons. The laid-back, stoner-adjacent archetype often gets a bad rap for being lazy and apathetic, but as quiet quitting, ugly Insta-dumps and grungy fashion challenge the validity of hustle culture, trend-following and perfectly curated profiles, several SS23 collections paid homage to the humble drop-out with comfy basics like slouchy sweatshirts, joggers, basketball shorts and distressed denim.
