Michael Galinsky's work touches underground music, politics and American culture. While a student at NYU in 1989, he found inspiration in a Long Island mall, using the location's blend of community and commercialism to inform a photography project. Galinsky expanded on the concept, traveling around the U.S. with a friend capturing snapshots of everyday life inside different shopping centers. Finding little support in the gallery scene at the time, he shelved the images and turned his focus to movie production. In 2010, Galinsky rediscovered the pictures, packaging them together as an archive of style and sociology during a simpler era. This edition of the book, produced as part of the first print run and signed by Galinsky, was published in 2019.
