Debuting as part of the luxury fashion house’s Spring 2021 ready-to-wear collection, the Balenciaga X-Pander ‘Black’ delivers Demna Gvasalia’s monochromatic take on a running-inspired shoe that blends a retro layered aesthetic with experimental tooling. The latter is highlighted by a raised, spring-loaded heel, featuring a 40mm arch that compresses and snaps back with each step. The leather-free upper pairs breathable mesh with synthetic overlays that alternate between a glossy finish and a weathered, lived-in aesthetic. ‘Balenciaga’ is stamped on the rubberized tongue tag, while the shoe size is displayed on the back heel.
