In celebration of their 50th anniversary, Vans released a limited-edition Sk8-Hi Lite LX as part of the 'Checkered Past' collection in March 2016. The premium leather upper pays homage to the iconic checkerboard motif that was originally introduced in 1977 with bold, mismatched prints. Color block paneling is used for a bold effect. A vulcanized midsole and gum waffle outsole give a nod to skate heritage.
