Released in December 2016, this special edition Nike Kyrie 2 'Doernbecher' was designed by Andy Grass, an 11-year old patient at the OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Oregon. Crushed by a log at the beach, Andy's Kyrie 2 tells the story of his recovery from two collapsed lungs. The blue and white colorway reflects Andy's basketball team colors, and his personalized logo on the tongue features a lion posing on top of a log with a baseball bat and basketball. A 'GRASS STRONG' tag on the midfoot strap was a slogan of encouragement for his parents, the Swoosh in the shoe's speckled midsole features the word 'JOY' as a tribute to his late Aunt, and 'LOVE MOM' hits up the underside of the left shoe strap in gold lettering.
