Japanese sneaker boutique mita teamed up with Japanese fashion label BEAMS to parley their affinity for street style onto the design of the ASICS Gel-Lyte III. The shoe references the classic Yokosuka souvenir jacket, which was a souvenir created for members of the US military who were stationed in Japan. A suede application is featured on the upper with quilted underlays, while the heel is embroidered with the phrase ‘Japan,’ a tiger motif and a Japanese character. The insoles are stamped with a camouflage graphic and the design of a chain link fence, a theme repeatedly seen in Mita’s collaborations.
