Japanese architect Kengo Kuma re-envisioned the ASICS MetaRide AMU by drawing to the traditional Japanese technique of bamboo craftwork. Revealed in December 2019, the sneaker is constructed of white technical knit wrapped in a series of woven synthetic strips integrated with the draw-cord lacing and logo stripes. A wood-derived layer between the rubber outsole and FlyteFoam-cushioned midsole reflects Kuma's affinity for unconventional material choices.
