While the August 2018 collaboration between Vans and the Van Gogh Museum generally features artwork from the Dutch painter, this Slip-On takes inspiration from an entirely different source: handwritten letters from Vincent to his brother Theo. Excerpts and illustrations were lifted from those missives and used to adorn the shoe’s canvas upper and rubber midsole. The sockliner, stamped with Vans and Van Gogh Museum logo hits, is finished in a design replicating Van Gogh’s brushstrokes.
