adidas uses the koi’s representation of strength and courage as their source of inspiration for their NMD CS1 ‘Koi Fish.’ The laceless mid-top design is constructed with a white Primeknit upper that’s accented with brushed black stripes across the vamp, a nod to Enso, a symbol of Zen Buddhism. The medial side is also accented with a red leather panel stamped with the design of a koi, a nod to both Japan’s flag and the fish itself.
