Meet the Duo Behind LA Boutique Género Neutral
Inside the Echo Park shop highlighting brands from LA, Mexico and beyond.
It was a fateful meeting that brought Ashley S.P. and Jennifer Zapata together at an Echo Park bar in late 2019. S.P. had relocated to Los Angeles from New York one year prior to open Dover Street Market’s flagship in the Arts District, where she worked as a merchandiser. She was meeting a friend for drinks when they were suddenly interrupted by Zapata, her now-fiancé and another friend.
“Meeting Jen was the best part of that night,” S.P. recalls. The two immediately hit it off, bonding over their shared love of fashion, Rosalía and French bulldogs. They were also neighbors, it turned out. They exchanged contact information, got breakfast a few days later and became friends.
